River Road Preserve
The 120-acre River Road Preserve is a natural haven for wildlife and sits on the eastern edge of Palmetto Bluff and it spans 1.4 miles on waterfront on both the May River and the Cooper River. An extensive trail system and park-like infrastructure includes observation posts, interpretive signage, comfort stations, docks along the water trail, and future plans including a canopy walk through the trees.
The Preserve adds a significant new dimension to the Palmetto Bluff outdoor experience. A Conservation Easement, which is being managed by the non-profit North American Land Trust, will protect the tract from development in perpetuity.
